Our terms & Conditions

Registration

Registration is required to sell, bid or buy.

All auctions and registrations will be approved before acceptance.

Items not deemed suited to the site, or inappropriate in any way, will not be accepted.

OWNERSHIP & FAULTY GOODS

Unless otherwise stated, all items for sale on this site belong to the person selling the item, not the site owner. The site owner is not liable for any damaged, dangerous or ‘not as described’ items, or any injury, howsoever caused, arising from any products bought from individual private sellers. All transactions are strictly between the seller and buyer.

Listing items for sale

No commission is taken from sales but a listing fee is required before the auction, or any posting is approved and published. The charge is £1 per item/listing.

Delivery or collection

Delivery is subject to the sellers preference.

We advise stating in the auction discription if posting, or delivery is an option and that cost will be determined prior to completing the purchase. Shipping costs will not be automatically added at checkout.

PAYMENT

Payment for items sold and the payment method chosen, is between the seller and the buyer.

The only option available at checkout is cash. However, if buyer and seller agree to another payment option, then this must be sorted between them at the time of the purchase.

With all payments other than cash, please leave sufficient time for the money to be cleared before handing over the goods.

Do not accept any payment options that involve part payment, or the offer of over paying requiring you to give change, or a part refund.

DISPUTES

Surplus Saddlery is available to private individuals for the sale and auction of mainly equestrian items. Unless stated to the contrary, assume these items to be used / second-hand.

There is no dispute option for private sellers. All transactions and any disputes arising must be resolved between seller and buyer. The site owner will not be involved in disputes: please see notes below on ‘private sales’ .

Goods sold by a business are subject to the usual Trading Standards regulations.

 SALE & loan of horses

No animals will be accepted as free: a price must be given for animals for sale. If a loan or share is offered, it must be clearly stated as such. For loaning or sharing, all parties involved should make sure there is a signed agreement in place which includes the option to visit and monitor the horse’s condition.

Click here for the BHS Loan Agreement which can be adapted to your needs.

If animals are old, or injured, please click here and refer to the BHS for advice.
